Welcome to the Turnip Patch Group.
A closed meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous.
On Feburary 5th, 2010 the Turnip Patch Group (TPG) gathered for its inagural meeting in downtown Knoxville Tennessee. The group was started to help preserve the metropolitan meeting heritage of AA.
With a coffee pot and desire to stay sober TPG meets every Friday at 6:00 PM in the First Presbyterian Church downtown Knoxville Tennessee. First Presbyterian Church is the oldest recognized congregational christian church in downtown Knoxville and was established in 1792.
Why the name Turnip Patch Group? The property on which the church stands was donated by the founder of the city of Knoxville James White who grew turnips on the site. After researching the history of the site the name seemed perfect for our group of previously "pickled" alcoholics.
Please feel free to browse the links we have provided and we look forward to all who visit us as they trudge the road of happy destiny!
CLOSED MEETING POLICY
The Turnip Patch Group is a Closed Meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous. In support of A.A.'s singleness of purpose, attendance at closed meetings is limited to persons who have a desire to stop drinking. If you think you have a problem with alcohol, you are welcome to attend this meeting. We ask that when discussing our problems, we confine ourselves to those problems as they relate to alcoholism.
(The 1987 General Service Conference made this statement available as an A.A. service piece for those groups who wish to use it.)
ATTENDANCE SHEET SIGNATURE POLICY
The Turnip Patch Group does not require (or expect) meeting Chairpersons to verify meeting attendance. If you require attendence verification please check the East Tennessee Meeting List to locate an OPEN meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous..
